10.30am – 12.30pm TECHNIQUE IN ATS : Level - Open
Getting down to the ‘nitty gritty’! In this workshop Devi will give you the tools to help you to get the most out of your ATS technique. We will look at correct ATS posture as well as body alignment and what muscles are needed for certain ATS steps. Devi will then take you into practical ATS® drills, using the tools learnt in this workshop to help you to improve and refine your ATS® technique.

INNOVATIVE FORMATIONS : Level – Beyond Beginners to Advanced
Devi is well known for her exciting stage dynamics and formations. In this workshop Devi will present new formations for ATS improvisation as well as staging ideas suitable for both improv and choreography, small and large groups. You will learn new ideas and techniques as well as some of Devi's inspiring formations. If time allows you will learn such formations as The Sea Anemone, Solid Gold, The Radar and FCBD® favourite Duelling Duets. The material presented fits perfectly with ATS and other styles of belly dance.

ATS/FLAMENCO/GYPSY FUSION: Level - Intermediate to Advanced
Ignite the fire and passion of Flamenco and inject it into your next performance! Learn some exciting new combinations to add to your tribal repertoire. These are Devi's BRAND NEW combinations that will add drama to your next show stopper! Devi will teach you some gorgeous arm, hip and foot variations, that will help give you that “Flamenco” look. You will learn such steps as El Cabalo Blanco, A Seville Romance, Carmen, The Matador, Drama Queen ... just to name a few!

SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW, SOMETHING BORROWED, SOMETHING ATS® :
Level – Beyond Beginners to Advanced
In this workshop Devi will present a rehash of her steps accepted into the FCBD format. This is material that you are already familiar with (something old), then she'll add some exciting and different ideas of what you can do with some of the steps (something new). She will introduce variations to add to other favourite ATS steps (something borrowed), then fuse it all together for some exciting new combos to add to your repertoire! (something ATS®).
SATURDAY NIGHT - HAFLA and DINNER with a performance by Devi Those who would like, are also welcome to perform – please let us know. There is a small performance area. VENUE – Sangam Indian Restaurant, Blacksmith Lane, Whitianga, from 6.00pm onwards. Indian Dinner with entree, meat and vegetarian curries, rice & naan bread, cost $25.00pp.

Devi Mamak... member and Artistic Director of Ghawazi Caravan, is one of
Australia’s premier ATS Dancers, Teachers and Choreographers, having taught many
of the top dancers in the genre.Devi is also well known for creatively fusing other styles
such as Flamenco, Indian, Egyptian and Ballet. She is renowned throughout Australia,
NZ, Asia and Europe for her creative, thorough and approachableteaching style, and her
beautiful and commanding stage presence. Devi has co-taught Carolena Nericcio’s
General Skills Certificate on several occasions with some of her own steps being accepted
into the ATS® syllabus. She has recently returned from filming an instructional DVD presenting
these steps with Carolena at the FCBD® Studio in San Francisco.
